October 2019 Newsletter

Thank you for helping to celebrate the anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, your donation was greatly appreciated.  The total sum of fund was raised $100.00. It was a great event with children, families, teachers and volunteers alike and all donations has been sent to Terry Fox Charity Foundation.

The themes for the month of October are Thanksgiving, Safety, and Halloween. These are just a few of the fun and exciting activities your children are going to participate in:

• Sharing spirits (pls. bring in non-perishable foods for the food bank)
• Thanksgiving lunch for children
• Rainbow fruit salad (please bring fruit to share)
• Fingerplays, games, art, and stories on Thanksgiving
• Learn about traffic, playground, and Halloween Trick-or-Treating Safety
• Visiting a Haunted house
• Enjoying orange Jell-O
• 3’s and 4/5’s children’s performance at Kerby Centre-Senior home
• Going for trick-or-treating in the Northland building
• Halloween Party on October 31st (wear a costume)

To celebrate Thanksgiving, we include in our calendar called “Sharing Spirit”. During Sharing Spirit we ask that you and your child bring non-perishable food item(s) for families in need. There will be a donation box located at the entrance of our centre where you can drop off your food items.

ACCREDITATION UPDATE:

While it may be hard to believe, the time has come, for our 6th term of Re-accreditation!!!!!

The purpose of accreditation is to ensure high-quality service to children and families at our Centre. It’s a voluntary process, long process and demands lots of work, but at the end, it’s all worth it because to get Re-accredited means we continue to meet Accreditation standards and provide quality childcare to children and families. This process needs to be completed by June 2020.

In the next months, we will be involved in a self-study process that begins with looking closely at all aspects of the program’s operation, including policies and procedures, activities, communication, facilities and governance.

Starting early October we will hand out Parent and Staff Surveys to be completed. As a team, we are working on Accreditation checklists for each playroom, organizing our documentation for our portfolios setting goals and strategies to create our Quality Enhancement Plan for the next 3 Years. Your involvement, cooperation, support, and input is greatly appreciated!!!!!
